
Professor Iris D. Tommelein
Distinguished Professor of Engineering and Project Management at UC Berkeley, Iris D. Tommelein specializes in lean construction, focusing on project-based production management for the architecture-engineering-construction industry. She is a renowned expert in construction site logistics, supply-chain management, and industrialized construction, including takt planning.
Professor Tommelein directs the Project Production Systems Laboratory (P2SL), advancing tools and knowledge for project management and serving as a hub for the Northern California construction industry. A founder of the Lean Construction Institute (LCI), she received LCI’s prestigious Lean Pioneer Award in 2015 for her groundbreaking contributions.
